Dear developer,

We are steadily looking for developer's power to improve and advance OpenSeaMap.
Currently, we especially need people with the below mentioned skills but other skills might be helpful, too!
If you are interested to volunteer, please contact us via project@openseamap.org.

Skills

Here we list required developer skills.

  • JavaScript with knowledge in backbone.js, jquery.js, templating engines and openlayers and of course HTML
  • Java with knowledge in REST based services
  • Java with ambitions to reverse engineer file formats and knowledge in OSGi
  • Filtering experts with knowledge in Kalman Filters, Wiener Filters and or Particle Filters
  • GIS experts with knowledge in statistics and nonlinear interpolation
  • Java Developers familiar with OSGi and eclipse in general
  • Basic knowledge in Postgres, QGis & statistics (Introduction possible).

Tasks

Here you find some tasks:

  • Provide bounding box feedback of uploaded tracks
  • Provide track metadata properties through upload dialog
  • Enable download personally obfuscated track data for researchers
  • Define and improve track filters
  • Provide addtional file formats for parsing and complete existing ones
  • Numerous Webpage UI improvements
  • Provide Java based standalone upload application
  • Add remote depth data repositories through ftp access
  • Investigate the crowed sourced data on base of the BSH reference data (which is much work, but more routine piece of work)
